So, while I was in Montana, a friend of mine was having a minor crisis, and between the two of us, we couldn’t establish a good enough signal to keep up a decent co
nversation. I had just downloaded Mobile IM, and I figured it would be easier to communicate via AIM. It worked, and we had a conversation probably less than 30 minutes long.
A few days later, I receive a text message from VZW informing me that there is a $256 charge to my account. Ouch.
So what was up? Supposedly, an IM costs the same as a text, which varies from plan to plan. I have unlimited texting, so there should not have been an additional charge to send IMs. So I did a little research. Turns out, unlimited texting (and consequently IMing) does not necessarily include areas in which your service is roaming. A lesson I won’t be soon forgetting.

Since the day my sisters bought their iPhones, I have teased them about their poor service. With Verizon, I usually have more than two bars; so of course when our family left this week to take a trip to Bozeman, MT for a wedding-turned-family-vacation, I was looking forward to great signal and bragging rights.

I was stumped-I checked the connections- no good. Next step: read the manual. But the only thing I found there was a few ridiculous rules, information about SARs, and advice to prevent hearing loss (don’t listen to your music too loud)…Did you know that this is actually a rule: “No person shall utter any obscene, indecent or profane language by means of radio communication”? Well, at that point I was ready to “utter obscene language” at my BlackBerry. (more…)

Great post Haley about BlackBerry Curve 101! Most of us are very familiar with our BlackBerry device and take pride in this very fact. However, sometimes we are asked questions by our peers and rather than having to explain, it’s always easier to say, ” check out the BlackBerry|RIM site” I had a client this past week, yes after answering about 6 basic questions about his BlackBerry I decide to do a search and ran across this BlackBerry 101 list. There you will find a basic list from setting up your BlackBerry device, troubleshooting it and so on. Probably one of top 5 Frequently Asked Questions by new BlackBerry users is How do I setup my BlackBerry Email? Hope this helps.
Enjoy your day!
